Bean Feasa
A ‘Bean Feasa’ is a wise, curing woman in the Irish tradition, the co-creator with the Otherworld for her community. My great-great grandmother, Nan Brophy, was one of these creative women. Bean is the Irish word for a woman and feasa comes from ‘fios’ meaning otherworldly knowledge. The Bean Feasa is both a woman and an archetype.
In this workshop, you will enter the Bean Feasa’s house at the edge of the village and work with this archetypal image to cultivate a framework for whatever creative aspiration you hold for your life at this time.
You will spend time in four rooms of the Bean Feasa’s house each aligned to a Celtic Season and alchemical stage:
Room 1: Samhain-Nigredo
Room 2: Imbolc-Albedo
Room 3: Bealtaine-Citrinitas
Room 4: Lughnasa-Rubedo
My intention in designing this workshop is for you to have a creative framework for working with the cycles of your life that is rooted in ancestral wisdom for contemporary times.
Creativity is the force of change; no matter what you desire for your life, it is the creative potential within you that must be activated to bring about change.
Creation made you, and its pulse is alive within you. Whether you consider yourself ‘creative’ or not, you are made of this stuff. Our ancestors knew how to tap into the mysterious force of creation—Nature, Universe, Source, Goddess, God, Divine—to co-create for their lives.
CREATIVE CHANGE
You will leave this 2-hour workshop with a framework you can adapt for creating change in your life. You will experience:
Four Celtic seasons rooted in the Irish tradition: Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine and Lughnasa, and how to use them as ‘creative seasons’ to create, nourish and foster trust in your life.
Four archetypes associated with these seasons: Witch, Goddess, Poet and Warrior, their symbols, and how working with this imagery can guide your creative practice.
Four stages of medieval alchemy: Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas and Rubedo, and how they align to the Celtic seasons to add depth to your creative process.
Four specific breathwork practices to anchor the energy of each alchemical season in your body, psyche and soma, anam agus corp working together.
